The lubricating, milking friction of love

Dedicated to Beatles-inspired orchestral rock Master, Jeff Lynne: Waterfall ELO 1975
Also from FACE THE MUSIC, this track is in stark contrast to the first track, “Fire On High”: an interesting point when one notes that this song directly followed “Fire” on the album. “Waterfall”: Another MIDI tribute to the musical mastery of Jeff Lynne. This MIDI is also stream-ready from www.elo.nu. The natural image and sound is that of the Buttermilk Falls waterfall in the Plymouth section of Terryville, Connecticut. Photo of Jeff Lynne is courtesy of Dirk Hoffmann @ FACE THE MUSIC GERMANY: www.face-the-music.de/IMAGES/jeff_02.jpg ,
March 19, 2001.
LYRICS:
1. So now it's getting late, for those who hesitate got no one;
But they don't understand and no one hears the sound,
It's like a waterfall, it's an illusion.
CHORUS
Love is all, waterfall, love is what you are! (Face the magic waterfall...)
Pulls you in, takes you down, it's a sad affair.
But you know, as you hold back the power there, (Face the magic waterfall...)
Without the friends and lovers, you could never go on living.
2. Across the waterfall that's falling evermore down on you,
Cascading through the days, and flowing on it's way,
That's how it has to be: just an illusion.
CHORUS

Ghostly Mark ( !kcab nruT )
Taking his cue from The Beatles, Jeff Lynne took to the use of "backwards masking" to produce secret messages in some of the music of ELO. This more...clip is a recreation of his reverse message in the intro. to Fire On High, the first cut off of FACE THE MUSIC from 1975. This video demonstrates the way the intro was done on the album: an eerie backwards spoken message played against the "forwards" orchestral music. If one plays the recording backwards, then one hears the secret message:
" The music...is reversible...but TIME is NOT! Turn back! Turn back!! TURN BACK! TURN BACK!!! "
A haunting warning open to many interpretations!

Pigs On The Wing (Parts 1 & 2) Pink Floyd 1977
Pigs are actually very intelligent and affectionate animals. Since they get too easily dehydrated, they need to stay cool with plenty of water: explanation for their affinity for mud puddles. But the common caricature of the pig is that it is dirty and noisy, a creature to be disdained. This is the idea used in this cut from ANIMALS by the Floyd.
LYRICS:
Part 1:
If you didn’t care
What happened to me,
And I didn’t care
For you,
We would
Zig zag away
Through the boredom and pain,
Occasionally
Glancing up through the rain,
Wondering
Which of the buggers to blame,
And watching
For pigs on the wing.
Part 2:
You know that I care
What happens to you,
And I know that you care
For me too.
So I
Don’t feel alone
On the way to the stone,
Now that I’ve found
Somewhere safe to
Bury my bone,
And any fool knows
A dog needs a home,
A shelter
From pigs on the wing.

Walking On Sunshine Katrina and The Waves 1985
Formed in 1981, English pop band Katrina and The Waves racked up a number of hits until their dissolution in 1999. The most memorable of these hits was the 1985 number, Walking On Sunshine. This midi was put together about 10 years ago, when I was picking up the digital craft for the first time. So I feel that it is instrumentally less sophisticated than most of my work, but it is still quite enjoyable. Let me know if you feel the same (and even if you don’t)!
LYRICS:
1. I used to think maybe you love me, now baby I'm sure!
And I just cant wait till the day, when you knock on my door!
Now every time I go for the mail box, gotta hold myself down,
'Cause I just can’t wait till you write me, you're coming around!
CHORUS:
I'm walking on sunshine, whoa oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, whoa oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, whoa oh!
And don't it feel good! HEY!! Alright now!
And don't it feel good! HEY!! Alright now!
2. I used to think maybe you love me, now I know that it's true!
And I don't wanna spend all of my life just waiting for you, just waiting for you!
Now I don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day, No, no, no!
Baby, I just want you back and I want you to stay!
REPEAT CHORUS
3. Walking on sunshine!
Walking on sunshine!
I feel the love, I feel the love, I feel the love that's really real!
I feel the love, I feel the love, I feel the love that's really real!
CHORUS to end.

I Can See Clearly Now Johnny Nash 1972
From Houston, Texas, the now 68-year-old African American performer Johnny Nash is best known for his Reggae hits: “Hold Me Tight”, “Stir It Up” (written by Jamaican reggae superstar Bob Marley), and this 1972 cut, “I Can See Clearly Now”, the most popular of all. In 1975, the familiar “Tears On My Pillow” was his greatest hit in the UK. Johhny Nash has also been active in film and score composition. This song is definitely another “oldie but goodie”!
The photo of Johnny Nash was taken in 1959 at the start of his singing career, courtesy of Getty Images.
This is my live MIDI playing and video interpretation of “sunshiny day”. I am most DEFINITELY a summer person!
LYRICS:
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way;
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
REFRAIN:
It’s gonna be a bright, bright, bright, bright
Sunshiny day.
It’s gonna be a bright, bright, bright, bright
Sunshiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone,
All of the bad feelings have disappeared;
Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for. (REFRAIN.)
Look all around: There’s nothing but blue sky!
Look straight ahead: Nothing but blue sky!
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way;
Gone are the dark clouds that had be blind. (REFRAIN.)

The Epitome Of Romance: MIDNIGHT BLUE ELO 1979
Many songs have been written about the romantic midnight. My opinion is that the midnight is even more amorous in the warmly seductive glow of the full moon. The very sight of it at midnight whispers: "Time for lovin'!" A perfectly natural aphrodisiac. Add to it a romantic song of love, and the scene is ideal! This is such a song: Electric Light Orchestra from DISCOVERY, Jet/CBS Records, 1979, played by Yours Truly. ENJOY music, lyrics, and scenes, all you lovers!! LYRICS: 1. I see the lonely road that leads so far away,
I see the distant lights that left behind the day
But what I see is so much more than I can say
And I see you in midnight blue.
2. I see you cryin' now you've found a lot of pain,
And what you're searchin' for can never be the same,
But what's the difference cos' they say what's in a name.
And I see you in midnight blue.
CHORUS
I will love you tonight, and I will stay
By your side, loving you,I'm feeling midnight blue.
3. I see you standing there far out along the way,
I want to touch you but the night becomes the day,
I count the words that I am never gonna say
And I see you in midnight blue.
Repeat Chorus
4. Can't you feel the love that I'm offering you,
Can't you see how it's meant to be,
Can't you hear the words that I'm saying to you,
Can't you believe like I believe,
It's only one and one it's true
Still I see you in midnight blue.
I see beautiful days and I feel beautiful ways
Of loving you,everything's midnight blue.
Repeat Chorus twice.

Livin' Thing ELO 1976
Life and love and all that pertains to them: It's all a "livin' thing". This is the reason why "it's magic". This is my video interpretation of another Electric Light Orchestra classic with me playing the song. The pictures here are deliberately moving and hazy in order to depict the fact that life and love are always moving within the powerful mystery that they both are. "It's a terrible thing to lose" once you realize it. The midi can also be downloaded from www.elo.nu , the website of The Official Electric Light Orchestra Fan Club (mine are the purple stars!) 1. Sailin' away on the crest of a wave
It's like magic!
Oh, rollin' and ridin', and slippin' and slidin’,
It's magic!
CHORUS
And you, and your sweet desire:
You took me, Ohhh!
Higher and higher, baby!
It's a livin' thing!
It's a terrible thing to lose!
It's a given thing!
What a terrible thing to lose!
Now I'm takin a dive! Dive!
2. Making believe this is what you've conceived
From your worst day, (I'm takin a dive!)
Oh, moving in line when you look back in time
To the first day, (I'm takin’! I'm takin’!)
CHORUS
Now I'm takin a dive off the stage! HEY!!
3. Takin' a dive, 'cause you can't halt the slide,
Floating downstream, (I'm takin’ a dive!)
Oh, so let her go, don't start spoiling the show,
It's a bad dream. (I'm takin'! I'm takin’!)
CHORUS

Do Ya Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
One of the greatest hits that made ELO famous - from A NEW WORLD RECORD, 1976. LYRICS: In this life I've seen everything I can see woman,
I've seen lovers flying through the air hand in hand
I've seen babies dancing in the midnight sun,
And I've seen dreams that came from the heavenly skies above
I've seen old men crying at their own grave sides
And I've seen pigs all sitting watching, picture slides
But I never seen nothing like you.
CHORUS
Do ya do ya want my love, woman
Do ya do ya want my face, I need it
Do ya do ya want my mind, I'm sayin'
Do ya do ya want my love
Well I, heard the crowd singin' out of tune,
As they, sat and sang Auld Lang Syne by the light of the moon
I heard the preachers bangin' on the drums,
And I heard the police playin' with their guns
But I never heard nothin' like you.
In the country where the sky touches down
On the field, she lay her down to rest
In the morning sun,
They come a 'runnin' just to get a look, just to
Feel, to touch her long black hair they don't give a damn
CHORUS -- repeat
Well I think you know what I'm trying to say to you woman,
That is I'd like to save you for a rainy day,
I've seen enough of the world to know,
That I've got to get it all to get it all to grow.
CHORUS
Do ya do ya want my love, c'mon now
Do ya do ya want my face, I need it
Do ya do ya want my mind, alright now
Do ya do ya want my love, ahhhhm look out!
Do ya do ya want my love,
Do ya do ya want my love, ohhhh-ohhhh

George Harrison: Cheer Down
In 1989, the late but eternally great "Dark Horse" Beatle George Harrison wrote, recorded, and produced this song with Jeff Lynne of Electric Light more...more...Orchestra for the final credits of the Mel Gibson/Danny Glover action film LETHAL WEAPON 2. (This CD also features David Sanborn, Eric Clapton, and The Beach Boys with scene music arranged and produced by Michael Kamen.) This track is still available on the Warner Bros. / Wea soundtrack album. It was also issued as the final bonus track for his WB / Dark Horse Records, EMI compilation, BEST OF DARK HORSE 1976 - 1989. Unfortunately though, this album has been out of print since 1993. Master George passed on on 11-29-01 of lung cancer; I created this MIDI four days thereafter. Local colleagues and gig bookers who heard it have given the opinion that the midi does acceptable justice to George's trademark slide guitar. It is not an exact replica, and I believe it shouldn't be, out of respect for the man's unique place in music history. But I do hope that you all will enjoy this midi video as much as have those with whom I have already shared it! Peace to all and may Dark Horse forever rest in peace. The video image is the latest shot of Yours Truly! LYRICS: 1. I can see by your grin that you're trembling within. It's all over town, Cheer Down. And the smile on your face is sometimes out of place, Don't mind, no frowns, Cheer Down. If your hair should fall, If your shares should crash, You'll get by even without getting a rash. There's no tears to be shed, I'm gonna love you instead, I want you around, Cheer Down. 2. When your teeth drop out, You'll get by even without taking a bite. If your dog should be dead, I'm gonna love you instead, The world loves a clown, Cheer Down. I want you around. Cheer Down.

Onward YES 1978
Religion has acquired many flaws. But the basic experience of a "power" and its related beliefs that has caused the birth of religion is real and fundamental to human existence, whether one believes in "God" or not. This video is my interpretation of "Onward", a song by Chris Squire and recorded by progressive supergroup YES on the album TORMATO, Atlantic Records, 1978. I have provided both the scenes and the music, the latter of which is me playing the song in Midi format. I especially thank clinton_N and indajewel_photos for the final images of the video which express my own personal belief concerning how spirituality CAN be expressed. Please respect the copyright owned by YES and Atlantic Records.
The lyrics to this song are as follows:
Contained in everything I do,
There's a love I feel for you.
Proclaimed in everything I write,
You're the light burning brightly
Onward through the night,
Onward through the night,
Onward through the night of my life.
Displayed in all the things I see,
There's a love you show to me.
Portrayed in all the things you say,
You're the day leading the way
Onward through the night,
Onward through the night,
Onward through the night of my life.
