Ten years ago I was in a band with my friend Dave Zachariah. He passed away years ago, drowning in Lake Taupo.
When we were writing he came to me with a simple two track tape with his first ever lead guitar attempt and rythm on it and I wrote these lyrics and sung over the top to create this tune. When Dave disbanded our band he gave me this song for my own solo act because he knew it was my favourite and we never really played it as part of our set.
I almost cried when I dug this old song out of the archives. I want to get this proffessionally produced and send any profits to his child. or at least keep his memory alive by releasing this song. The rythm guitar in this tune is Dave Zachariah and the lead guitar by Ahtongi Achong. The bass was originally Matt Wilson but I had to relay my own bass playing over the top as it was too low in the original mix.
I re recorded the vocals and added my own guitar track. The original elements were looped from an old practice cassette of our band practice at the now demolished Maramalade studios practice space. The tapes were all second generation copies cause Dave stole my fucking originals. God bless him! lol!
If you own a recording studio and are interested in helping me produce this song for his childs charity send me a message.

Angst
Angst, my second year production. This time I had some performing arts actors to collaberate with. Some crazed late nights to finish shooting this one. My pal Dion Geaney was on camera (see the rider in Return of the Mooses).
Rajiv wrote the basic script and we both sat down at Auckland Library and blocked out the shots. Rajiv has since appeared in numerous ads and even starred in a recent feature film! Paul the guy playing the mysterious doctor is also an acting force to be reckoned with but even more impressive I felt was the performance by Michelle Civil as the illfated girlfriend. She was actually a dance student rather than an actress but I think she did very well considering the working environment and dramatic demands of the production.
Anyhow, here you go!! I'm looking forward to shooting some more of Nocturnal after I spend the next month gearing up the Werewolf for the NZ Body Art Awards. I'll keep you all posted!!

Numinosum
Finally I uploaded the Numinosum!!! Numinosum was my end of year student production in 1992. Hammy acting and rubber monsters inspired by David Lynch's Eraserhead!! This was officially my first ever short film and is extremely laughable. But still worth watching from a B-grade shlock perspective, so have a gander and a giggle at my expenses! I was 18 or 19 I think when I shot this in 92' and at the piont never had carnal knowledge of a woman so I think it's not bad for a virgin, teen hayseed splatterpunk. Ha ha!

A day in the life of Wayne Rugg SPFX
A day in the life of Wayne Rugg SPFX. This is a short Doco I made about the local special effect workshop. This was shot as part of my Television and Video course at Carrington Polytechnic in 1992. Again just an archive of past days. Wayne Rugg has since passed on and Jason Docherty went on to become the workshop supervisor for Richard Taylors Academy Award winning "Lord Of The Rings" special effects team at Weta in Wellington, New Zealand.

Return of the Mooses
This is a rough vid of my friend dion doing some Freestyle bike tricks. Dion isn't riding any more, which I think is a real shame because he was obviously very talented with it. Maybe he'll take it up again one day as it looks like a real fun way to exercise. makes me wanna buy a bike and try some tricks myself!

Self
I had to digitize and upload this old video from my Carrinton Polytechnic course (now know as UNITEC in Auckland). It was the first year they had run this course fulltime and not exclusively for polynesian students.
I think about 30 or 40 of us were selected out of thousands to do the course. One of the first things they wanted us to do was a short video self-portrait to express ourselves to our other classmates and teachers. Don't get me wrong. I'm no baby killing psychopath but I do love horror and gore. lol.
The vid features my little brother David gettin strangled (not for real, but as David is always up for acting this was his first taste), he also features as the Werewolf in my Nocturnal Teaser.
It also features two of my earliest animations before I had hands on training at TOONZ working on Disney shows. The aging head claymation I did as part of my ASA art school foundation year and the bursting Rabbit which was my first ever cel animation!!
Most of the footage was degraded, having been shot and stored on SVHS for the last thirteen years, so this was my last chance to archive it. So enjoy a laugh at my expense with my hammy acting and youthful appearance. I think I was about 17 or 18 at the time I made it. Enjoy!

Rockabilly Cannibal
Rockabilly Cannibal. He eats Human Flesh! He killed his brother to protect his deadly secret!
I shot this in 1993 during my second year of Television and Video production. It's very amatuer and my actors are terrible, BUT!.... I like my zombie make-up in it and I created a fake elvis hairdo for Jacob which almost fell off during some of the more action sequences! An amusing little slice of my film history. I'll try and upload more before the old tapes fall completely apart.

Chief Dancing Bear
This is a clip I cut together of some old animations I have done, reverse footage of me drawing a dragon this evening, Special Effects I've been working on and some really old footage from back in my film school days. The music is my song "Chief Dancing Bear" so this essentially works as it's rough music video.
