Here's an update on Pixie, the kitten I found almost a year ago. This video shows her missing foot much better. She's very happy living with me and my other cats. As you can see, the missing foot is calloused and she is sensitive to having it touched and will keep it off the floor when she walks on hard surfaces. My idea is this: If every capable adult person was to rescue at least one stray cat, then maybe, just maybe, the problem of cat overpopulation would disappear! For example, in the United States there are about 300,000,000 people, 200,000,000 of which are able-bodied adults. If there's roughly 200,000,000 stray cats in the US, then all we have to do is rescue or adopt just one cat per person! Just a thought. Adopting your pet cat from a shelter, rescue organization or taking it off the streets yourself is the single best thing you can do to help the stray cat problem. And, having that cat spayed or neutered is the single most important thing you can do for your cat and for our global community. It doesn't matter how rich or poor, big or small -- every city, town and village has stray, homeless, abandoned, lost, neglected, starving, injured, and sick cats and dogs who are somehow surviving in the streets. These animals were once, or could be, someone's beloved pet. They shouldn't be sick, hungry, or in pain. They don't speak our many languages but they do speak one language we all have in common -- unconditional love. You can see it in their eyes... all they want is a pat on the head, a little food and a comfortable spot to sleep. And in return they will be your friend forever. My hope is that more people take notice and do something to help at least one stray cat or dog... it would make a BIG difference. Since they cut down 30 acres of trees near where I live, we're getting a lot more deer coming around and feeding on whatever they can find in our yards. Human development takes it's toll on the natural environment and the creatures that need it to survive.

Stray cats are everywhere and their numbers can grow very quickly if left to breed. Lethal methods of controlling their population are outdated and inhumane. T-N-R (trap-neuter-return) is the most effective and humane method that works! The stray cat population in the U.S. is estimated to be approx. 70 to 100 million. Uncared for, homeless cats lead lonely, miserable lives. But when neutered, returned to where they were trapped and fed on a daily basis, they can live very happy, healthy lives. It would be ideal to adopt out every stray cat, but unfortunately, statistics tell us that there are just not enough homes available to adopt all the existing stray cats. I created this video to help raise people's awareness of the plight of homeless companion animals, especially cats and dogs. It is my hope that after viewing my video, you will find it in your heart to adopt a homeless pet or volunteer some time and effort with a shelter or rescue organization. The stray cat population in the U.S. is estimated to be approx. 70 to 100 million.
