In the Jewish tradition, a Golem is a supernatural non-human entity created to kill for and defend the Jewish people against their enemies. Eventually the Golem grows so powerful that it casts off the shackles of whomever created it and attacks its former controller. What is the Golem? Is it mere myth, magic or machine? Some even posit that the United States is the Golem.
