Got this from brasscheck TV(AP News definitely won't report this) and I really hope my friends, old unit, and fellow brothers who carry a DD form 214,..You really need to watch this and get checked out for this poisoning and that includes the ones who are on the bases stateside as well if there is a firing range which means the city that surrounds it right outside the gate near a firing range is most likely contaminated, which means the water as well...

Depleted Uranium DU Cover-Up - 2/2
Link to part 1 of 2 below
Controversy surrounding DU-usage - While conducting research on the use of illegal/questionable weaponry used in Iraq (DU, WP, etc.), came across the following documentary on depleted uranium usage throughout Iraq and then Kosovo. Considering its continued use in today's Iraq war, the content should be considered highly relevant.

Unknown Terror of DU
Permission granted by M. Benoist:
1,000-2,000 TONS DU Spread Over Iraq's Cities. The president of the United States, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, and the prime minister of Israel must acknowledge and accept responsibility for the willful use of illegal uranium munitions—their own "dirty bombs"—resulting in adverse health and environmental effects. shell coated with depleted uranium pierces a tank like a hot knife through butter, exploding on impact into a charring inferno. As tank armor, it repels artillery assaults. It also leaves behind a fine radioactive dust with a half-life of 4.5 billion years.

Depleted Uranium Hawaii
Is the US Army using DU on practice ranges and contaminating Hawaii? A report from KITV (ABC affiliate) in Honolulu.
It's called "depleted" uranium, but it's radioactive and on impact and when burned it releases nano-particles of radioactive uranium into the environment.
We know that millions of pounds of depleted uranium rounds have been used by the US military in Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan with catastrophic results on both civilians and military personnel.
Now it appears the US is using depleted uranium rounds within its own borders for target practice.

Use of Depleted Uranium Is a Form of Radiologic Warfare
A relatively new weapon has entered the armory of the US arsenal. Anti-tank shells made of 10 pounds of solid uranium-238 -- commonly called depleted uranium (DU) are very effective weapons to use against tank armaments because they slice through the steel armor like a hot knife through butter. Despite the apparent effectiveness of DU, there are grave dangers.
Uranium-238 is pyrophoric, bursting into flame on impact, and when it burns 70% of the shell aerosolizes into particles less than 5 microns in diameter, which are respirable in size. Uranium-238 is an alpha radioactive emitter which is both chemically toxic and mutagenic.
Basically, there are 5 mechanisms by which uranium can induce mutations and cell damage:
Direct damage to DNA molecules from alpha radiation hits[1]
Genomic instability as genetic and chromosomal damage are passed through succeeding generations of damaged cells[2]
Bystander effect where adjacent cells that are not directly hit by alpha radiation incur DNA genetic damage[3,4]
Chemical toxicity from uranyl ions that bind avidly to DNA-clumped chromatin -- hence their mutagenic capability; uranyl acetate stains are used extensively in electron microscopy[5]
Excretion of uranium through the kidney in high doses causing acute nephritis
Uranium induces lung, bone, and hematological cancers and it infiltrates the CNS.[6] It is excreted in the urine and semen, and uranyl ions infiltrate the testes, ovaries, placenta, embryo, and fetus.[5]
This is a radiological and dangerous element which can cause generations of damage to human beings. Yet hundreds of tons of uranium-238 munitions were used in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq in 1991, in Bosnia and Kosovo during the 1990s, and in the current Iraq war.[7]
Children, of course, are more susceptible to radiation-induced cancer than adults. Pediatricians report a marked increased in childhood cancer and severe congenital anomalies in Basra, which was polluted in 1991 with hundreds of tons of aerosolized uranium-238.[5]
Uranium-238, with a half-life of 4.5 billion years, will contaminate water, food chains, and the ambient air in these countries forever. The use of radiological weapons, including depleted uranium, should be banned by international treaties, and all countries should refrain from using them for the health and safety of all.
That's my opinion. I'm Dr. Helen Caldicott, MD, pediatrician and President of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute.

HEADLINE NEWS WITH DOUGLASS BICKFORD WORLD POWERS GIVE IRAN 2 WEEKS TO STOP ENRICHING URANIUM!
World powers give Iran 2 more weeks to accept nuclear freeze
By Jonathan S. Landay | McClatchy Newspapers
GENEVA, Switzerland _ World powers Saturday gave Iran two weeks to accept a freeze on expanding its uranium enrichment work as a step toward full-scale negotiations on its nuclear program's future, or face new economic sanctions and isolation. The powers told Iran that there would be no further talks on their offer to withhold new sanctions for six weeks in return for Iran not adding new enrichment machines called centrifuges to its plant at Natanz for a similar period. "The Iranians know very well what will continue to happen (with further sanctions)," European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said after talks with Iranian negotiator Saeed Jalili. Jalili failed to give a response to the "freeze for a freeze" offer the powers made a month ago to encourage Iran to heed U.N. demands to suspend its enrichment effort and open negotiations on the program it hid from international inspectors for 18 years. The U.S., Israel and others believe Iran is secretly developing nuclear weapons. Iran insists it is legally enriching uranium for fuel for power plants. The inconclusive outcome dimmed hopes of movement in the six-year dispute over Iran's nuclear program raised by the presence at the talks of Undersecretary of State William Burns, the third highest U.S. diplomat. It was the first time a U.S. official has attended face-to-face discussions with Iran on its nuclear program, reversing a Bush administration policy not to attend such a session until Iran heeded U.N. demands to suspend its enrichment of uranium. The session in Geneva's ornate city hall was also attended by senior diplomats from Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia.

It is possible that Iran is realizing that negotiating is the only way out. One solution, which apparently no one thought out, is that the world consortiums be allowed to fund and supervise the uranium enrichment processes on Iraqi soil in partnership with the government of Iran. This would take care of the sovereignty and national pride question, since the consortiums would be invited by Iran. The country's economy is hurting and more sanctions are in the pipeline. Why not try this [my] solution? It's better than being economically starved ... or bombed! This is why talking to the U.S. may be seen as the better option. Two weeks is enough time to sort things out. Iran is not like the U.S. where every important decision takes months if not years. Iran became a major power in the Middle East after Saddam was vanquished. It would be idiotic for Iran to waste its current global advantages. Inversely it would be insane for the world not to try to vanquish Iran with sanctions. So the only way out from the impasse is an urgent dialogue within the U.S. before the two weeks expire ... and both should be seeking this outcom
