Since 9/11, the Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities in the United States have faced a rising tide of discrimination and racial profiling. FLYING WHILE MUSLIM tells the stories of twin sisters Arwa and Sumia Ibrahim, detained and interrogated at JFK airport; Talat Hamdani, whose son died trying to aid 9/11 victims but was accused of being a terrorist; Raed Jarrar, forced to remove a shirt with a peace slogan in Arabic before boarding a plane; and many others—all wrongly singled out and made to feel like outsiders in their own country.
