Esta obra magistral Agustín Barrios la compuso en el año 1944 pocos meses antes de pasar a la inmortalidad. Inspirándose en los golpes en la puerta de una anciana pidiéndo "Una Limosnita por amor de dios" Ese nombre para esta maravilla de obra fue sugerido al autor por varios alumnos, Bracamonte entre otros y Barrios no lo puso pues no le gustaba. El nombre aquí sugerido "El último canto", se me ocurrió a mí en el año 1961, al estrenarla en mi pais. La versión aquí presentada corresponde a un concierto realizado lunes 20 de mayo 1993 en Montevideo - Uruguay _________________________________________________________ This majestic composition was made by Agustin Barrios in 1944 before he passed away and became immortal. He was inspired when an old lady came by knocking to his door asking for help ¨God bless you, please help me¨ (Una limosnita por amor a Dios) Some students suggested that expression for this marvelous play; Bracamonte was one of them, within others. But Agustin Barrios was not pleased with it and did not agree. The suggested name ¨El ultimo canto¨ which means ¨The last song¨ came to me on 1961, when I open a concert in my country. This version presented here belongs to a concert done on a Monday, in May the 20th, 1993 in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay¨

Arroyos de la Alhambra is written by Angel Barrios. Barrios was born in Grenada in 1882, the son of a flamenco guitarist. Ángel Barrios (as he is known) studied classical guitar and composition in his native city, but concentrated on a career as a professional guitar. He later studied in Paris, and though he was to be a touring artist, unlike many other Spaniards, he did remain a national musician. He founded the Trio Iberia in 1900 for which he made many arrangements, and they enjoyed a considerable vogue in Europe. He was quite a productive composer in his younger years, but the Spanish Civil War had a considerable affect on him, and he wrote little in later life. His catalogue of works includes opera, zarzuelas, a number of orchestral scores and solo works for piano and guitar. They are all written in a style influenced by the Romantic era, and relied heavily on a populist Spanish folk influence. He died 1964. I hope you like it... I do :-)
