I’ve always seen the Northern Water Tribe rather like the Native Americans in the film Pocahontas. So since I love the music of the film I decided to make this video from one of my favourite songs - Steady as a Beating Drum. Combining my favourite show with my favourite song - what could possibly go wrong? A lot, apparently. First of all, I realised how difficult it is to fit suitable (major word here) clips from the show into the video. Because in the Northern Water Tribe they don’t give any shots of the food. None. Then, trying not to hint at shippings - it’s a city video, people! No shippings allowed! But I think I pulled it off. In a small way. Sort of. Tell me what you think! I need to know if I’m going right or just going off on a tangent, (I do that a lot). Also your opinions - entire Pocahontas song collection… Avatar style??? Yes, no, definitely never? You decide!

Traveling thru South Dakota this Summer in a Motorhome, we visited Mt.Rushmore while there at the site, there was the Native American Band "Brule"(Sioux) playing,I fell in love with their music & bought 2 CD's. I researched their story from South Dakota, mainly about the Battle at Little Big Horn,it so touched deep within me that I had to make a short story onto a Music Video of this incredible & sad event in our history.The music on this Video is from their CD's.Let us never forget! I love Sokka. He is a great character, but he needs more fight scenes where he doesn't get pwned. I mean, he can be comic relief AND a good warrior, right? My Great Grandfather on my Fathers side was Full Blood Cherokee. He lived on this reservation. He told my Grandmother about The Trail Of Tears , many stories as she was growing up.. It was a very sad time for the Cherokee..

In my humble opinion, this is the absolute best canon pairing in Avatar. Romantic, sweet, sad, yet ever-lasting. They were doomed from the start, but they will always be together, even if only in their hearts. My first serious video, done to the song Auf Achse, by Franz Ferdinand. I played with timing and did a few experiments with lipsyncing. A FEW NOTES: Scenes that are 'darker' are sorta like memories. The majority of the chorus was meant to be their story playing out, while everything else is kinda like Sokka's 'main' memory towards what happened previously. If that makes any sense. And I purposefully made the shots of Yue's death last for a very short time. Imo, that happened so fast that Sokka didn't have much time to register what happened, unlike the rest of their story which felt longer. I hope you guys enjoy this video even -half- as much as I did making it, and please leave any kind of crit! :D I do not own Avatar, the characters, or the song.
