I think religion was the natural outgrowth of our ancestor's observations, coupled with the development of language and storytelling. They were simply trying to make sense of the world. There are many different creation stories because we were spread out all over the planet as our cultures arose. Different cultures became separate because they grew up in unique surroundings. Religion served as a social glue, a set of ideals and beliefs that were the precursors of our secular laws.

The Pharmacratic Inquisition 2007 (John Allegro Sample)
John Marco Allegro (born in London 17 February 1923, died 17 February 1988) was a freethinker who challenged orthodox views on the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Bible and the history of religion.
After service in the Royal Navy during World War II, Allegro started to train for the Methodist ministry but transferred to a degree in Oriental Studies at the University of Manchester. In 1953 he was invited to become the first British representative on the international team working on the recently discovered Dead Sea Scrolls in Jordan. The following year he was appointed assistant lecturer in Comparative Semitic Philology at Manchester, and held a succession of lectureships there until he resigned in 1970 to become a full-time writer. In 1961 he was made Honorary Adviser on the Dead Sea scrolls to the Jordanian government. What happened next will no doubt change the course of religious history! michael tsarion Interviewed by Dr.Patrick Bailey about Astro-Theology
"A basic rule when it comes to reading the New (and Old) Testament is to merely substitute the word zodiac (stars or constellations), whenever one reads the following, for these are the names of the zodiac used by the various Cults of antiquity:
Tabernacle
New Jerusalem
Nazareth
Bethlehem
Hall of Judges
Kingdom of God
Tent of God
Flocks by Night
Aeons / Ages
Seasons
Mansions
Citadel
7 Churches
Mount of Olives..."

Early Christianity: A Study -The Ebionites
Sorry I stumbled through that one. I'm bad with names. I was able to find all the texts mentioned.
Many of the texts are lost and are only found in quotes of the Early Church Fathers. Hope you all enjoy this.
I use the Hebrew word in order to possibly explain that they may have been like the Christians in Acts 4:32-37 This makes more sense to me.
