Old Dan's Records
"Old Dan's Records" reminds me of those wonderful times when family and friends come together for some toe-tapping, song-singing, and impromptu dancing the night away!

Old Dan's Records (Old Dan's Records) 3:03
Get out old Dan's records
Get out old Dan's records
We will dance the whole night long
It's fun to play the old time songs
If old Dan could see us now
I know he'd be so proud
Bring out old Dan's records
Bring out old Dan's records
I remember my Aunt Bea
She'd dance with Dan till two or three
If old Dan could see her now
I know he'd shout out loud
Dig out old Dan's records
Bring out old Dan's records
We're all here, we've all got dates
We'll dance all night to the seventy-eights
If old Dan could see us now
I know he'd be so proud
If old Dan were with us still
I know he'd come around
Get out old Dan's records
Dig out old Dan's records
Back to nineteen thirty-five
The foxtrot, jitterbug 'n jive
If old Dan could see us now
I know he'd be so proud
Get out old Dan's records
Bring out old Dan's records
High above the fireplace
There's a smile on old Dan's face
If old Dan could see us now
I know he'd be so proud
If old Dan were with us still
I know he'd come around

Spanish Moss - Gordon Lightfoot - V78
About a month ago I mentioned to Lynn how much I liked Gordon's Spanish Moss - Lynn answered, you are entitled to a request or two you know , and so it is requested. The scenario that immediately came to mind is that Gordon met a southern Belle while performing in Savannah Georgia. Their relationship might have been for lifetime, had things gone differently ... and, she had a daughter that Gordon called " Spanish Moss"....just a thought that works for me. Hope you enjoy it. Thank you for the request dear Lynn!
Spanish Moss
(G) Let go darling, (G+) I can feel the (G6) night wind call (G7)
(Am) Guess I'd better (Bm) go
I (C) like you more than (G/B) half as much
As I (Am7) love your Spanish (D7) moss
(G) Spanish moss a-(G+)hanging down
(G6) Sweeter than the (G7) southern love we've (Am) found
(D) Spanish moss, (D7/F#) keeps on following my (C/G) thoughts a(G)round (C) (D)
(G) Georgia pine and (G+) ripple wine
(G6) Memories of Sa(G7)vannah summer(Am)time
(D) Spanish moss, (D7/F#) wish you knew what I was (C/G) say(G)ing
(Am) So I'm rolling north (D) thinking
Of the (G) way things (B7/F#) might have (Em) been (Dm)
If (C) she and (G/B) I could have (Am7) changed it all some(D)how (D7)
Spanish moss a-hanging down
Lofty as the sycamore you've found
Spanish moss, keeps on following my thoughts around
Georgia pine and ripple wine
Kisses mixed with moonshine and red clay
Spanish moss, wish you knew what I was saying
So I'm rolling north thinking
Of the way things might have been
If she and I could have changed it all somehow
Let go darling, I can feel the night wind call
The devil take the cost
I like the way your kisses flow and I love your Spanish moss

The Way I Feel
Another beautiful, haunting song in the Lightfoot Series. This one stars the American Robin and the stately, majestic Oak Tree. Please stop by the YT Tribute Channel at http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157 to see the videos not presented here.
The Way I Feel (The Way I Feel) 3:02
The way I feel is like a robin
Whose babes have flown to come no more
Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin'
When the birds have flown and the nest is bare
Now a woman lord is like a young bird
And the tall oak tree is a young man's heart
Among his boughs you will find her nesting
When the nights are cool she is warm and dry
Your coat of green it will protect her
Her wings will grow your love will too
But all too soon your mighty branches
Will cease to hold her and she'll fly from you
Now the way I feel is like a robin
Whose babes have flown to come no more
Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin’
When the birds have flown and the nest is bare
When the birds have flown and the nest is bare

Your Love's Return
I am so very fortunate to have been able to work with this beautiful love song! I hope you enjoy my interpretation.
Your Love's Return (Song for Stephen Foster) (If You Could Read My Mind) 3:55
Come to the door my pretty one
Put on your rings and precious things
Hide all your tears as best you can
Try to recall what used to be
Roses are waiting for dewdrops to fall
Climbing your windows and walls
Bells in the steeple are ringing, singing
Listen to them talk about your love's return
Let me come in my pretty one
Try to undo what I have done
For I must be forgiven now
I cannot leave your love alone
Roses are waiting for dewdrops to fall
Climbing your windows and walls
Leaves in the garden are falling, calling
Listen to them talk about your love's return
Let me come in my precious one
Wake from your sleep and take me home
Open your eyes and look my way
I will not lose what I have won
Roses are waiting for dewdrops to fall
Climbing your windows and walls
Bells in the steeple are ringing, singing
Listen to them talk about your love's return

Miguel
Miguel, to me, is Gordon Lightfoot's "El Paso" -- the sad story of a hard life, bad decision, untimely death and an everlasting love. It was difficult to find "period" pics for this one, so I must thank Tj for coming to my rescue and providing some of them. That's what made this truly a "team" effort!
Miguel (Summer Side of Life) 4:12
Never had much to say
He traveled alone with no friends
Like a shadowy ghost
At dawn he came and he went
Through the woodland swiftly gliding
To the young maid he came riding
Where she'd run to meet him
By the garden wall
Oh my sweet Miguel
I will never tell
No one will ever know
What I know too well
And he'd smile and lay his head on her breast
And he'd say I have no fear
They're waiting for me to cross the border, to swim the river
‘Cause I've done that before
To see my true love's smiling face
A hundred times or more
Oh my sweet Miguel she cried
I'll love you ‘til I die
He was born to the south
In Mexico they say
The child of a man
Who was soon gone away
But his mother loved him dearly
And she would take him yearly
To the great cathedral in St. Augustine
Oh my young Miguel
Listen to the bell
Of my poverty
You must never tell
And he cried himself to sleep in the night
And he vowed to make things right
So he took the gun down from the wall and he paid a call
He knew she'd understand
A lawman came to capture him
The gun jumped in his hand
Oh Miguel the mother cried
You must run son or you'll die
So the story is told
Of his true love 'cross the line
As strong as the oak
And as sweet as the vine
And the child she bore him
Came on the fateful morning
When they sent him to his final rest
Oh my sweet Miguel
Listen to the bell
No one will ever know
What I know too well
Then she'd smile and lay the child on her breast
And she'd say I have no fear
I'm waiting for you to cross the border, to swim the river
'Cause you've done that before
To see your true love's smiling face
A hundred times or more
Oh my sweet Miguel she cried
I'll love you ‘til I die

Moment of Truth - Steven Truscott - Wrongfully Convicted
In August Steven Harper was a free man after having been convicted and imprisoned for the murder of Lynn Harper which he did not commit.
Adam Crossley and Asher Lenz wrote and recorded a song entitled 12PrisonerLA. Lynn ( MyLady) and I thought it ideally suited for a tribute to the new "free" life of Stephen Truscott.
A million thanks to Lynn at 4Lane Productions for her edits, images and dependable sensitivity as to how a story like this should be produced.
It is almost theft that it is uploaded here and not at her channel!

Dreamland
Dreamland conjured images of a multiple marriage life. Who other than Elizabeth Taylor could guide us through the emotions of this song. This is another in the Gordon Lightfoot series, 46 of which can be viewed at the Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Channel http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157. More to come!
Dreamland (Endless Wire Album) 2:53
You come to me in times of need
When you can't find anyone
You seem to be much better off now
There's a rainbow number one
We could see life through the gutter then
Till it caused my heart to break
There was too much toil in dreamland
And too much love to take
Sometimes I remember when
We were all dressed up in style
I don't recall the gist of it all
But you drove the young men wild
You could wrap me around your finger
Till it caused my heart to break
There was too much toil in dreamland
And too much love to take
So if you need me near you
Y' can do it if you choose
There was too much toil in dreamland
And too much love to lose
Instrumental
You make me do what you want me to do
Then you run the rules on me
You seem to be the wiser now
Could it be you've been deceived
Anytime you felt like tryin'
You would cause my heart to break
There was too much toil in dreamland
And too much love to take
So if you need me near you now
You can do it if you choose
There was too much toil in dreamland
And too much love to lose

Blowin In The Wind - For Judith
Blowin in the Wind - A Collective Prayer for Peace.
"The draft mixdown will be wonderful, I just know it. I'm so upset about this ongoing war and it seems there is nothing I can do to help stop it. I voted for "the other guy" last time and you can see what that got me. I'm housebound by my disability and unable to attend any protests. Thanks so much."
Judith
Blowin' in the Wind, by Bob Dylan
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Joan Of Arc - Jennifer Warnes - Written by Leonard Cohen
This is a fine tribute to a famous heroine who became a Saint - the amazing, sensitive - Joan of Arc. She was admired by Leonard Cohen who wrote this tribute to her life and accomplishments. Jennifer Warnes has sung with Leonard on many of his recordings. She made Joan of Arc her own.

The Last Time I Saw Her
Another incredible song in the Gordon Lightfoot Series. It's always interesting to find photos that depict the emotion and allow the viewer to experience the journey that the music and lyrics take us on. I'd like to publicly thank Tj (StonewallStudios) for always pushing me to make it that little bit better. I hope he never stops. ~~ Lynn

The Last Time I Saw Her (Did She Mention My Name) 5:10
The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and her hair hung long
The last time she spoke to me, her lips were like the scented flowers inside a rain-drenched forest
But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before
And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more
The last time I walked with her
Her laughter was the steeple bells
That ring to greet the morning sun
A voice that called to everyone
To love the ground we walked upon
Those were the good days
The last time I held her hand, her touch was autumn, spring and summer, and winter too
The last time I let go of her, she walked away into the night
I lost her in the misty streets, a thousand months, a thousand years
When other lips will kiss her eyes
A million miles beyond the moon, that's where she is
But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before
And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more
The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and she walked alone
The last time she kissed my cheek
Her lips were like the wilted leaves
Upon the autumn covered hills
Resting on the frozen ground
The seeds of love lie cold and still
Beneath a battered marking stone
It lies forgotten

Same Old Loverman
When I heard this song the very first time, Elvis came to mind. I asked a few others and once again, Elvis was the first person to pop into their heads too, so, Elvis it is!
Same Old Loverman (Songbook) 3:21
I'm not some long lost someone
Just dropped in to say hello
It's that same old lover man
Baby you lost so long ago
'Cause I was born to believe
I never could deceive
Believe me
I hear no children's voices
Have they gone back to school
And that same old lover man
Is still acting like a fool
I guess I was born to bring you grief
Though I never was a thief
Believe me
It's cold outside your window
Please let me in, the night is wild
It's that same old lover man
Not some lonesome winsome child
An' I was born to believe
I never could deceive

Spin Spin
There could be only one subject for this wonderful Gordon Lightfoot song – a spider’s web. You must admit that there’s nothing quite as magical as a web when it’s intricacies are highlighted with the sunlight and the morning dew – except, or course, the web of Love.
Spin, Spin (Sunday Concert Plus) 2:29
So fine, so fine the web you spin,
I come too close and I'm caught again!
In a web of wild design,
I do not know what fate is mine!
All the day sit and spin,
You spin your web and you draw me in.
Spin, spin, spin, spin!
Well my daddy said when I was young,
"Beware the web of love, my son,
To be in love is to be insane,
Make an old man groan, a young man pain!"
All the day, sit and spin,
You spin your web and you draw me in.
Spin, spin, spin, spin!
Then I did grow and the time did fly,
Many a true love passed me by.
And then you came like a blinding storm,
I landed in your web so warm,
All the day, sit and spin,
You spin your web and you draw me in.
Spin, spin, spin, spin!
So fine, so fine the web you spin,
I come too close and I'm caught again!
In a web of wild desire,
And I cannot control the fire!
All the day sit and spin,
You spin your web and you draw me in.
All the day sit and spin,
You spin your web and you draw me in.
Spin, spin, spin, spin!
Spin, spin, spin, spin!

Restless
This is one of Lightfoots fabulous image rich songs that keeps on telling stories within stories like dolls within dolls. A special thanks to Wes Steele of Youtube days who emailed and left his phone number. We had a great chat tonight and as a result I will be dusting off most of the Lightfoot video storys produced and uploaded last year to the other host site.
Thank you for contacting me Wes - another benefit of the internet that makes friends through the sharing of music and images.

Pussywillows Cattails - Gordon Lightfoot
Mouse contacted me, requested Pussywillows Cattails and then sent along most of the great images( except the pussy willows) used in this production. Not only that, mouse labeled the images to the lyric of the song. If you wan to get a request fast tracked here at the studio - mouse knows the way.
If Gordon sees this vistory I think he might agree that mouse's images were spot on the meaning of his lyric. Thank you mouse - will be pleased to co-produce as many of his tunes as you have images for!
Sincerely
tj
Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
Rainpools in the woodland water to my knees
Shivering quivering the warm breath of spring
Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
Catbirds and cornfields daydreams together
Riding on the roadside the dust gets in your eyes
Reveling, disheveling the summer nights can bring
Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
Slanted rays and colored days stark blue horizons
Naked limbs and wheat bins hazy afternoons
Voicing rejoicing the wine cups do bring
Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
Harsh nights and candlelights wood fires a-blazin'
Soft lips and fingertips resting in my soul
Treasuring remembering the promise of spring
Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
