These videos shall give you a little overview of SEd and its features.
If you watch them carefully (and watch certain segments more than once), you might be able to learn something.
They are compressed using the DivX 5.1.1 codec, you can get a free version here:

Note that my Serious Editor is heavily customized, I even used an own light entity texture for easier grid alignment...
...so don't wonder if something looks different, compared to your Editor.
If there is stuff unclear, watch it again and try figuring out ... I am, just like you, only a human and generate useless video sections that I cut out afterwards. (reason for mouse pointer happily jumping around and stuff)
I tried pressing keys slowly, but some were still too fast to be recorded... when my camera position suddenly changes, then it is either because of a new video segment or I hit ESC and flew around.
Some keys are hit although not needed (like "P" when already in poly mode) - I got used to hitting "P" before editing polygons, so just ignore those keystrokes.
Generally when a window pops up or some polygons are being selected with a single "[RMB]" recorded, it's a doubleclick.

Overview
--------
Because not everything could be captured (especially some fast keystrokes), here are also some comments.
1 - FirstRooms.avi - creation of 3 rooms, corridors, basic texturing, lighting (+sector ambient), a mirror and a skybox
- "H" = toggle shadows
- if you hit ESC to go to fly mode in the one-viewport layout (default: keypad 6) and then hit keypad 0 to get the regular editor layout, the window size will stay and you can see the editor models in one viewport (changing layout while in fly mode)
- "+" = add something
- sector color copying is done by using "," and "K"
- some properties of entites can be reached faster by hitting shift+letter in parenthesis, example: "Fall-Off (F)" -> shift+F
2 - Directional Light.avi - using the directional light settings for some polygons
- note that the directional light illuminating those is already built in the prefab skybox
- after doing some other geometry changes, the directional light shadows are screwed and you need to strike ctrl+R again to recalculate the lighting
3 - Door and Portal.avi - creating a moving brush (without sounds) and making the mirror a portal
- "D" = drop marker from an entity
- "wait time" -1 = use the wait time from the marker that was visited by your brush before while moving in the game
4 - 4th Room with Fog.avi - creating another room with a sloped entry and fog inside
- projection mapping is used to align the sloped textures, "M" on floor and "U" on the slope
- fog marker is still selected while switching the viewport layout, this way its settings can be edited and previewed the same time
5 - Pool.avi - a hole with water and haze in it
- if you use the cut tool (ctrl+X) and put both points on exactly the same position before hitting return, SEd will crash instantly
6 - EnemySpawners.avi - a Touchfield and some enemy spawners
- ctrl+alt+lmb = link an entity to a property
- "G" = show connections
- there's a connection from the haze marker to the origin of the main world base, the connection Touchfield->Trigger is hard to see
7 - Round Room.avi and 2nd Texture Layer - a round room extension with texture mapping that fits
- levels don't only need to be boxes
- "Z" = toggle selection mask (= selected polygons' yellowishness)
