He was 56. Last year, he suffered a heart attack and was took a leave of absence from his long-time position backing Fred Eaglesmith, as on of "The Flying Squirrels". After making a full recovery, he was due to set out on a solo tour this year (I hoped to catch him when he came to Ottawa, after seeing him both with Fred and solo, early last year). Willie began his folk career in the 1960s as a songwriter and singer at Rochdale College. In the 1970s and 80s first with The Bone China Band, and then as a solo act. In 1998, he won a Juno award for his first solo album in 9 years, "Heartstrings" and 1990 co-wrote the song Goodbye, So Long, Hello with Russell deCarle of Prairie Oyster which was named Canadian Country Music Association's Song of the Year. Even after spending so many years pleasing crowds across Canada and around the world, he was determined to keep the music going. He will be greatly missed....

Several months ago, I wrote a song and produced a video for Big Brother 7 "Winner" Pete Bennet. Big Brother is a TV Reality show that encourages its viewers to scrutinise and judge every aspect of a contestant's personality. A few days ago, Bennet saw that video whilst searching for Pete Videos on Youtube. The shameless egomaniac. He then posted it on his own page and ordered his fans here, where they threatened the lives of me and my family, and abused me in the basest, most reprehensible terms. Terms I wouldn't want want to repeat in front of MY fans, but I'm sure you get the picture. Bennett himself got in on the act, making crude speculations as to my sex-life and appalling allusions to prescription drug abuse. The people you will see in the following video are those people who attacked me. Judge for yourselves if their physical appearance is as ungodly as their tongue and as abhorrent as their "personalities."
