Mercy (a short movie made in 48 hours)
This movie was our entry to 48 Hour Sacramento, a contest sponsored by the Sacramento Film Festival.
It was conceived, shot and edited in a period of 48 hours. Starting 8:30pm, Friday March 2, 2007 and Ending 8:30pm Sunday, March 4th, 2007.
It was screened at the Crest Theater in Sacramento along with 15 other competing projects. A distinguished panel of judges gave top honors to MERCY and named it "Best in Sac" in the 48 Hour film category.
There were several requirements we had to fulfill to qualify the movie as an official entry to the festival.
1. Everything had to be completed in 48 hours.
2. Everyone working on the project had to be a volunteer.
3. Had to pick a genre out of a hat and create a story that fit in that category. In our case, we picked ROMANCE.
4. Must include a character named Stella Starlight.
5. Must include a flag as a prop.
6. Must include this line of dialog... "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany."
7. Must include a Sacramento landmark or defining characteristic of Sacramento.

Pick Up Line
What if your one chance at winning the big one was crushed by someone you love?
This was made for the 48 Hour Film Competition in 2006. See my other video 'The President's New Suit' for more details on the competition.
This year our team name was Twisted Whiskers. Thanks to my ex-partner in crime for the fantastic graphics at the beginning - he's an editing star! Sorry to have lost your creative comaraderie. I'll miss you.
We got this one in on time but we weren't placed in anything. I'm a little biased now on the judging, all the really dumb ones get to the finals. AGAIN we got the surprise genre: TRUE STORY.
GENRE: True Story
LINE OF DIALOGUE: "That's what I'm talking about"
PROP: Mirror
CHARACTER: Robin Slade the Eternal Optimist
This time I took myself out of the Directing seat to do some acting but ended up directing anyway! Thanks so my dad too, he's the radio DJ... he passed on the creative gene to me and to him I'm forever thankful!!!

The President's New Suit - 48 Hour Film Competition
Made for the 48 Hour Film Competition 2005.
We had 48 hours to write, film and edit a short film under 6 minutes. At 6pm Friday, each team was given a genre, a line of dialogue, a prop and a character. Our team had the following items:
GENRE: Disney/Family
PROP: Banana
CHARACTER: Bodil Derezny, an animal lover
DIALOGUE: "Please don't do that"
Our genre was a 'bonus' genre dropped on us for the first time ever for this particular competition. Not really understanding exactly what makes a 'Disney' film, we wrote something with a 'moral'. There were about 10 genres spread out over 300 teams nationwide.
The 48 Hour film competition began as a small group of people having fun over the weekend, but has now grown into an official competition in which every man and his dog involved in film and TV, and some extras thrown in, take part in. Last year Peter Jackson was one of the judges.
The films had to be handed in at 6pm Sunday night, no later. Our teams film was 30 seconds to late.
If you watch this I'd LOVE it if you commented and told the gang what you thought. THANKS! xx
